Bendigo Goldfield – Exploration

A review of the exploration model for the Bendigo Goldfield is underway, with the aim of developing a successful exploration strategy to enable production to recommence in the future.

The information gained from recent operations and drilling will be used to compile a stratigraphic model which will be combined with updated geochemical and magnetic datasets. It is planned that this work will be undertaken by Company geologists and external consultants, and will focus future exploration of the Mining Lease, particularly over the northern half of the Goldfield.

Drummond Gold continues to progress its exploration program on the Bendigo Exploration Leases under the Farm-in agreement announced on 1 February 2011. The Farm-in agreement allows Drummond Gold to explore on the Bendigo exploration lease areas held by Unity Mining (EL5035 and EL3327). Unity Mining will retain exclusive rights to the mining leases which cover the Bendigo Goldfield, including the Kangaroo Flat Mine and its associated infrastructure.

Drummond are re-processing and re-interpreting magnetic and gravity data and various geochemical sampling methods are being trialled across differing regolith regimes to explore for black shale sediment-hosted gold mineralisation.
